My mother's father was a home builder, and my own father is a pretty crafty woodworker, so even before I first entangled my younger sister's hair around a drill in grade school (I had to cut it out, and yes, dad definitely noticed we'd been playing in his shop), I have been surrounded by others who shared my urge to make things. It's what I love most about the branding process: finding the problems that the design needs to solve, and then doing that as efficiently – and cleverly – as possible.
Like many, 2020 kept me at home more than usual, where I found myself organizing, painting, and DIY-ing with the best of them. I really needed a solution for shoe storage by the front door, where we don't have a surplus of space. I'm drawn toward clean lines, but many of the styles I liked were either cheap particleboard or plastic, or several thousands of dollars. There didn't seem to be much in between, and even some of the pricier pieces were still not made of real wood. I knew I needed to look for another approach, so I modified some plans I found from Ana White and dusted off my tools.
Since then, I have customized several other solutions for our home, and found that I not only have a knack for it, but also have a number of friends who have encountered similar issues and wanted to place orders. I decided to expand the offerings of StellaKinesis Design to include these pieces. If you have a particular storage problem to solve, and you're interested in working on a piece together, or ordering something as you see it here, please complete the form below. Be sure to include some details about your space, including measurements, and a phone number if you prefer that over email.
NOTE: All of our rustic modern furniture and shelving is made to order to your size specifications, and requires a deposit.
